ABOUT / SEATTLE, WA
I work where data, hardware, and digital craft overlap.
I'm Bill, a designer, engineer, and maker based in Seattle. I build interactive data visualizations, prototype physical products with 3D printing and laser cutting, design IoT devices with ESP32 and ESPHome, and wire it all together with automation workflows.
I'm driven by curiosity and the satisfaction of making things that actually work, whether that's a real-time energy model, a custom infinity mirror, or an n8n pipeline that quietly keeps everything running. The common thread is taking something complex and making it legible: something you can see, touch, and understand.
If you have an idea that doesn't fit neatly into one discipline, that's exactly where I do my best work.

Layered Logic
My independent practice runs as Layered Logic LLC. The name is literal: everything I make is built in layers. Layers of 3D printing, layers of the design process, layers of data and analysis. The consulting work on this site and a small line of made-to-order light objects (starting with the infinity mirror) both live under it.
Even the logo works that way. It's a generative sketch, and the one on the right is live: two nested Ls that read your cursor like a level meter.
